Welcome to BKacupuncture Clinic.

My name is Sunhwa Kang (go by Sun) a Licensed acupuncturist in the United States, speciaizing in musculoskeletal pain and rehabilitation.

I began my health care career with a foundation in physcial therapy in South Korea, where I received my inital clinical training. This early experience gave me a strong understanding of human anatomy, movement, and injury pattern, which later became a valuable foundation for my acupuncture practice.

After coming to the United States, I developed a deep interest in Traditional Oriental Medicine, particularly the powerful role acupuncture plays in treating musculoskeletal conditions. This passion led me to study both Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine, earning a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, ultimately obtaining my license.

Previously, I worked with Dr.BK (MD, Orthopeic surgen, LAc), treating a wide range of musculoskeletal patients. This collaborative experience allowed me to intergrate acupuncuture into comprehensive care plans, providing patients with a safe, effective to pain management and overall wellness.

I,Dr. BK was a spine surgeon as an orthopedic surgeon in South Korea. My speciality was low back surgery including microscopic lumbar discectomy, posterior decompression for spinal stenosis and posterior decompression with posterior lumbar interbody fusion(PLIF) for spondylolisthesis.

  I started acupuncture for the unsatisfied patients after spine surgery in Seoul. Korea. That was much more helpful to reduce pain than the ordinary physical therapy. 

  I came to the United States to become an orthopedic surgeon again over 16 years ago. I got an ECFMG certificate and passed all medical board exams, USMLE I, II and III. But it did not work because it was so much competitive to admit to an orthopedic residency program that was required. I gave up to be a surgeon here and got an acupuncture license to practice in Wisconsin.

  I has been practicing acupuncture in this clinic in New Berlin since May 2009 and I am  treating orthopedic pain only such as muscle, joints and nerve pain. 

  I apply acupuncture based on the orthopedic knowledge and experiences with traditional Chinese medicine and believe that would be more understandable and very successful.
